L.I.T.S— to worry about things you cannot control.

I am a sixteen year old girl. I have never had a serious medical condition in my life. The most intense I have gotten is a bacterial infection or step.

Two months ago I had something rupture on my back on my natal cleft. It left three holes, two weeks of antibiotics, and then a serious allergic reaction. I went to the E.R. and was prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication for the next two weeks.

Today I went back to the doctor after finding more holes in the same area.

I am now going to have surgery to fix this problem before it gets worse. The condition itself has a 40 - 50% chance of coming back.

I am worrying myself sick. I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone in the world, mostly because it is embarrassing and annoying. The thought of the possibility of me being put under scares the living hell out of me. Please, guys, try your best.

Worrying about it is only making it more stressful upon me, but unfortunately I can’t seem to pull my mind from it. The only thing that comes up is how my boyfriend is in danger of these tornadoes that are popping up all over Oklahoma.

L.I.T.S— to not love yourself for who you are

Men and women alike in our world have issues finding the good about themselves. They can go to extreme lengths to be skinny, have nice cloths, be cool, etc.

To have confidence is not to be arrogant or narcissistic. To have confidence is to know that regardless of what happens, you are perfect the way you are.

Embrace yourself with love and acknowledge your most beautiful qualities. Surround yourself with loving, good people. Forget the terms of which society is telling you to live. You don’t have to be skinny like the models, or excessively successful like a multimillionaire.Live life and love yourself during the process.

If you have any type of self-esteem or confidence problem, I want you to try one thing: Look in the mirror and fight the negative words that come to your mind. Really look at yourself, not just physically but mentally and internally as well. Find your worst qualities, acknowledge them, but don’t give into them. Then I want you to put something on your mirror, whether you write it in lipstick or tape a piece of paper to its side.

I want you to write: ’ Life is too short to not love myself. ’ and then list one of your most highlighted qualities. It could be your eyes, your long legs, or your hair. Make it something that you feel good about. Then each day, try to add one more to your list.

Add this one once you can’t think of another: I have the ability to love myself.
Continue this until you can’t find anything else. Then ask your friends.

Review your list every time you look in the mirror. Smile. Complete confidence will come in time.
